SERVICES OFFERED

Accent Modification:  Accent modification therapy is tailored to the individual needs and goals of every client, taking into account factors such as your first language and your personal communication goals. The ultimate goal is to help individuals communicate more effectively and confidently in their professional and social environments.  After your evaluation, you’ll receive a detailed report including targeted sounds and recommendations.

Aphasia:  Speech therapy for adults with aphasia focuses on helping individuals regain and improve their language skills following a stroke or other brain injury that has affected their ability to understand, express, and communicate effectively. A detailed assessment will help to determine goals which may include improving conversational skills, increasing vocabulary, or increasing written communication skills. Inga believes in tailoring therapy not only to the client’s needs, but also utilizing materials that are of personal interest to foster a dynamic and collaborative process and increase success.

Articulation:  Whether you have a diagnosis of dysarthria, a lisp or were never able to really master the r sound, Inga will work with you to improve your articulation.  Your evaluation will include a written report detailing which sounds will be targeted and after each session, you’ll be provided homework and easy-to-understand strategies to target your goals.

Cluttering/Stuttering:  Inga has extensive experience working with adults seeking fluency therapy for the first time, as well as those who have never received any speech therapy to address their disfluency.  She believes therapy is a collaborative experience and  is not just about reviewing modification techniques to utilize during moments of disfluency.  Sessions also entail  discussing the emotional and psychological aspects of stuttering, including anxiety, negative thoughts, and avoidance behaviors. Inga will work with you to develop real strategies, challenge unhelpful beliefs about stuttering, and help you to build confidence in your communication abilities.

Executive Function:  Executive function refers to a set of cognitive processes that are responsible for managing and controlling various aspects of thinking and behavior. Therapy targets goals such as attention, organization, problem solving and reasoning, working memory, self-regulation, and time management.  These processes are crucial for goal-directed behavior, problem-solving, decision-making, planning, organization, time management, and self-monitoring.

Gender Affirming Voice Care: There is more to voice than just pitch.  The way we sound can often lead to feelings of gender dysphoria.  Inga supports all clients through the process of finding their voices.  This includes components of voice from resonance/pitch/intonation, rate/volume/ intensity, articulation, and vocal hygiene.  Services are available throughout the US via teletherapy and includes practical homework and feedback between sessions.

Professional Communication:  Most adults Inga has worked with have never taken a course in public speaking, and if they did, it was likely back in high school.  For over 20 years, Inga has directed and coached individuals for stage, screen, radio and corporate positions.  Each assessment includes an evaluation of your articulation, voice, rate of speech, ability to sequence verbally, cognitive flexibility, attention, and use of filler words.  Inga will work with you to develop strategies to reduce any anxiety related to speaking, refine your presenting skills, and improve executive communication skills such as active listening, assertiveness, diplomatic language, and adapting communication style to different audiences.

Social Communication:  Pragmatic therapy for adults focuses on improving social communication abilities to facilitate successful interactions, foster meaningful relationships, and enhance your overall quality of life.  Teletherapy enables clients to also address underlying cognitive and emotional factors that impact pragmatic language skills such as social anxiety, self-awareness, and perspective-taking in a safe environment. Therapy can include developing nonverbal communication skills, conversational coaching including initiating and maintaining conversation to develop strategies for managing challenging communication situations.

Voice:  Speech therapy for voice aims to address both functional and organic voice disorders in order to improve vocal quality, pitch, resonance, and overall vocal function. A vocal assessment includes evaluation of vocal quality, pitch range, resonance, and breath support.  Inga will develop personalized treatment goals aimed at improving your vocal function and maintaining a healthy, sustainable voice.  Therapy includes instruction on breathing exercises, vocal hygiene education, individualized warm up and relaxation exercises, and pitch and resonance training as well as developing stress management strategies, overall relaxation techniques as well as cognitive restructuring to reduce vocal tension and improve vocal confidence. You will be provided with homework between sessions and will have the opportunity to receive feedback and guidance between sessions.
